What even is a healthy lifestyle?

In today's fast-paced world, the concept of a "healthy lifestyle" can often feel elusive and undefined. Many of us may wonder: What does it really mean to live healthily? In this blog post, we'll explore this question and provide tangible checkpoints to help you assess and improve your lifestyle.

So what is a healthy lifestyle, and how would we even know if we're living it? A healthy lifestyle is more than just physical health; it's a culmination of small, mindful choices. It involves nurturing your body, mind, and spirit to achieve overall well-being and balance. From nutritious eating to stress management and cultivating meaningful relationships—whether with family, friends, coworkers, or even yourself—every aspect of your life contributes to a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

As you read each question, take a moment to pause and reflect on how it resonates with you:

  1. Do you wake up feeling refreshed and energised each morning?

  2. What are your background thoughts like throughout the day?

  3. Do you engage in regular physical activity that you enjoy?

  4. How do you manage stress and prioritise self-care?

  5. Are you nourishing your body with nutritious foods?

  6. Do you have fulfilling relationships and social connections?

  7. What brings you joy and fulfilment in life?

Reflect on your responses to the checklist and find the areas where you can make simple positive changes first. Remember, small steps can lead to significant improvements over time.

Start by setting small goals and gradually incorporating healthier habits into your daily routine. Instead of reaching for another cup of coffee or a sugary soft drink, try something new like a herbal tea or a refreshing glass of water. Instead of grabbing a chocolate bar for a quick snack, opt for nuts or a handful of strawberries or blueberries—you'll feel much better for it.

When you feel overwhelmed, take a moment to pause and reset. Cover your mouth with a hand and force a yawn by mouthing yayayaya. Then, find a green plant, a tree, or flowers and just watch for a moment. Take your pause, slow down, and simply be kinder to yourself.

Living a healthy lifestyle is definitely a journey and not a destination. By making a different choice everyday and taking small steps towards that fulfilment you create your own unique path to well-being. Embrace the process, stay committed to your well-being, and remember that you have the power to create the life you desire.

with love
